Open letter to a sweet Jehovah's Witness friend

Dear Becky,
From the minute I met you on my doorstep I liked you immediately. I could see the gentleness of Jesus in your eyes and hear it in your voice. As an Evangelical Christian, I am very sure of my own faith. Nonetheless I learn something new every day and I hunger for Truth, which is why I took the time to read the books you gave me. I totally welcome different perspectives as long as they are Biblically based. After reading everything, I was very suprised to discover that Evangelicals and Jehovah's Witnesses appear to believe exactly the same thing. I've come to a conclusion concerning what I've learned....

The main difference between your church and mine is that yours takes to the streets to spread the Gospel to strangers. Nothing wrong with that. I believe that my ministry is right here in my everyday life as a manicurist and music scene girl. I believe God put me in the occupation I have and made me who I am so I can be a witness to a unique demographic of people that rarely get to meet Christians, especially Christians who know what they know, like what they like and are considered to be "cool". Edgy, artsy, rocker types think of Christians as nerdy, conservative, prudish wimps...and when they meet me, they get quite a suprise. I haven't infiltrated their world--I have always been an active part of it, only now I am a sheep in wolf's clothing and I know that's what God wants me to be! I can't trick anyone into wanting to know Jesus but I can be an example that plants a seed of curiosity in a mostly atheist & agnostic slice of the world. Honestly, I would never have the guts to talk to strangers but thank God there are people like you who can!

I ask that you read just one thing: Romans 14, all verses 1-23.

From this you will see that you are my sister in Christ and although our ways are different, neither of us is wrong. I don't wish to change my church affiliation but I do hope we can be friends!
Love, Cari

Cari, I stumbled onto your blog because I am doing some market research in the nail tech industry. I am a christian as well! (also a hairdresser in Michigan) I too feel that with the right timing and Gods promting, it is a wonderful ministry in our line of work. My question to you is: would you be interested in checking out my sister in law's invention for healthy nails? She is a manicurist and has worked to invent a new system that I would love to get your opinion on. It is an alternative to acrylics and is healthy for your nails. It does not use acrylic activators and you do not need a drill. And - it works! So, if you have a chance to check it out, www.cindinails.com I would love to send you a sample kit with DVD on how to use it. We are taking random samples to various cities and I don't have anyone in Vegas that has tried it yet. Soon, we will have it for sale on line but right now I am basically collecting opinions and asking people if they would consider switching to a new system. Please message me if you would like to talk more. Thanks!
